How long can the Image Vault record before it starts to overwrite old video?

There are several variables including hard drive size, capture rate, capture resolution, motion detection triggers, image compression, frame differencing, resolution, camera quality, and so forth. PRO Command storage capacity of 10 GB per camera will yield 1 month of storage when using motion detection with default quality, speed and resolution settings. Do any other devices interface with the Image Vault unit?

I want to connect a PC with the Image Vault DVR via "peer-to-peer" network connection. What is the TCP/IP address?

The PRO Command DVR default TCP/IP address is 192.168.0.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0. When configuring your playback software for the first time set the remote PC TCP/IP address to 192.168.0.2 with the same subnet mask, then save the entry. Note that changing a Host Name setting usually requires rebooting the DVR.

Can I save images for later use or to give to police authorities?

Yes. Images may be copied to CD or downloaded to a remotely connected PC.

I have some images that I do not want to be erased or recorded over, is there a way to protect these images?

The range lock feature locks the images in place and write-protects them until you release them. Up to 20 range locks can be set.

Can Image Vault handle normally "open" and "closed" contact status from my external or alarm inputs?

Yes. This is a software variable that can be set on any Image Vault DVR series. The number of inputs and wiring details vary by model.

I have a PTZ camera. Will it interface with Image Vault?

You can use a Pelco, Panasonic, Kaletel, or Sensormatic PTZ camera with PRO Command DVRs. Dry contact closures may be used to trigger PTZ presets.

I have certain cameras I do not want to display on my in-store monitor. Is there a way to block these cameras from viewing?

You can pick and choose in software which cameras you allow to be displayed on your public view (composite) monitor.

Yes. Daylight savings time is an automatic function.

Can I use the video recorder computer for anything else?

NO! The recorder is designed to be a dedicated unit. No other applications can be run on it.

Do I need a video multiplexer or camera switcher with Image Vault?

No. Your digital recorder not only captures and stores images in a digital format, but also takes the place of the VCR, multiplexer, camera switcher and any other remote access unit.

When I first plug in my Image Vault unit, how do I know it is on and recording?

Every Image Vault unit comes with detailed instructions on how to install the recorder. A PRO Command unit will make an audible "beep" for every camera it finds attached when it first boots up. Once booted up, the system will then start switching from camera to camera on your composite (NTSC) monitor. This is your indication that the unit is recording properly.

Do I have to close files or wait to view images with Image Vault?

No. With Image Vault, all images are available at all times.

When I view a recorded image, it looks grainy, over exposed, or pixilated. How can I make it look better?

Exit the remote playback program, then right click on your desktop and choose "Properties". Select the "Settings" tab. Using the drop-down menu, change your color setting to at least "16-bit color" (set to the maximum value your monitor will handle). Your images should now display the correct colors.

I have the Image Vault setup to function as an event recorder (motion detector, external event, data triggered or scheduled recording), but the unit still seems to be recording all of the time.

When connected to your Image Vault unit, at the top of the screen, click "Status" then choose "Camera Setup." On the Camera Setup dialog, make sure to uncheck "Auto-Detect." Uncheck "Manually Configured" for each camera.

What is the actual resolution of a digital image stored on Image Vault?

Images may be captured and stored at 320x240 (default value) to 704x480. The higher the capture resolution, the larger the average image size and thus the shorter your maximum storage time.
