SherLock Electronic Lock
About SherLock
SherLock was the first intelligent safe lock package of its kind. Originally
developed by FireKing for NKL in the late 1980s, this package saw over a decade
of use on NKL's premium drop safe line. In 1999 SherLock went out of production.
Then, in 2004, SherLock was reintroduced with updates for new safes and new
applications.
As of 2007 Sherlock has again been discontinued. For reference purposes only

SherLock Add-A-Key
About Add-A-Key
An Add-A-Key is normally enrolled as a standard User key. This is so that it can be used to validate the enrollment of an Area Manager (AM) #30 key. The AM key is then used to enroll other users. It is not normally enrolled as an RGM key unless there is no RGM available on the site and there is no other key enrolled in the safe. It is not enrolled as an AM key because an AM key cannot be enrolled without a valid enrolled User (or RGM) key to validate enrollment. Only one attempt to enroll is possible. After the first attempt is made the key is no longer self-enrolling. If the first attempt fails, a new Add-A-Key is required. Customer should be advised that enrolling an Add-A-Key should only be done while in phone contact with Technical Support to avoid failure.
Procedure
- Insert Add-A-Key to be enrolled.
- Enter Factory PIN (1111).
- Press #.
- Enter key ID number (1-27 possible, typically choose a mid-sized number, such as 15, to avoid wasting the key).
- Enter a PIN number.
- Re-enter PIN number to confirm.
- Remove key.
- Test key to verify operation.
