Duress Feature
When
The duress feature is used to send a silent alarm during a robbery. The idea
is to send a signal to the police while opening the safe that the robber does
not detect.
How
When entering the PIN, add 1 to the value of the PIN. For example, if the PIN
is 1234, enter a PIN of 1235 to actuate the duress alarm signal.
Note: It is strongly recommended that
users avoid PINs that end with a "9". This is because adding a 1
rolls over the second digit as well, and in a duress situation it may be very
difficult to enter the correct code for duress. If, for example, the PIN is
1459, the duress code would be 1460. Though only one number higher, this can
be confusing under the conditions of duress.

Error Messages
Message "ERROR, NOT A VALID KEY" Appears when Presenting Key
1. Attempt to enroll the key. If successful, the problem is solved.
2. If, when attempting to enroll, the display tells you the key is already enrolled,
delete the key and try enrolling it again.
3. If, when attempting to enroll, the display tells you the key is invalid, replace
the key.
4. If the key is a new key contact the Key Department; it is possible that the
key programming was erased in shipping.
5. See also Key Problems.
Message "ELECTRONICS ERROR"
1. Unplug the transformer.
2. Remove the outer panel and temporarily disconnect the battery backup.
3. Reconnect the battery and transformer power.
4. If the problem persists the inner board must be replaced. If necessary to
drill, replace the lock and lock cable as well.
Message "BATTERY LOW"
1. Check the transformer is plugged in.
2. Check for possible power problems.
3. The battery will power the safe for approximately 8 hours with limited access
after a complete loss of ac power. When power is restored the battery will begin
to recharge. While charging the message BATTERY LOW will normally be displayed
and the transformer will typically be much warmer than usual.
4. If the message remains on the display for 24 hours replace the battery back.

sensors by override and replace the lock and sensor hardware.

Key Problems
Key Does Not Perform Desired Function
1. Is the key of the proper level to perform the desired function? See Key
Permissions.
2. If the key appears to be working in all other respects check another key of
the same level. If the other key works, replace the first key. If both keys fail
to work correctly with the specified function, replace the inner board.
3. Check if the safe is in timelock.
Present Key, but No Response from Keypad
1. Any time a key is presented to the reader the safe should beep and provide
some sort of visual response.
2. If there is no display check for power problems.
3. Check that the keypad buttons respond when pressed. If not, replace the outer
board.
4. If this is only a problem with one key, replace the key.
5. If there is no keypad response to any key and the display is normal and the
keypad buttons respond properly, use the Lost Key Override for temporary access
and replace the outer board.
Loss of Power
Troubleshooting a Loss of Power
1. Check the transformer is plugged in to the AC outlet.
2. Check the transformer cable is plugged in at the back of the safe.
3. Check the AC outlet has power using another electrical device such as a radio.
Note: These additional steps apply to authorized service personel only:
4. If a volt-meter is available skip to Step 5. Check the transformer temperature.
If it was plugged in correctly and the outlet had power, the transformer
should be warm. If the transformer has a light it should be lit. If the transformer
is cold or extremely hot replace the transformer. If in doubt and parts must
be shipped anyway, send a transformer just in case.
5. Check transformer output voltage at the mouser connector (where the transformer
cable plugs into the rear of the safe). If the output is bad, replace the transformer.
If the output is good, it may be necessary to have the safe drilled open and
replace the lock and the inner board. Replace other parts only if a new inner
board does not solve the problem.
6. Before drilling removed the outer board and check the electrical connections
to this board to ensure the problem is not simply a loose wire.

Problems Printing the Audit
Problem: Prints only the key data and/or only one line of the
audit report then stops.
Solution: When the printout gets close to the end of the "Key
Data List", inner-board can hold up to 200 keys, press any button on the
Keypad except escape, "ESC".
Why?: It is believed that this will slow down AuditLok XL enough for
the printer buffer to catch up.

Alarm Wiring Data
The AuditLok XL provides for duress and burglar alarm connections through a 15
pin D-Shell connector located on the back of the safe. Either alarm is switched
via a SPDT relay with both normally open and normally closed contact provided.
When an alarm condition is activated, the appropriate relay will switch and remain
in the alarm state until a valid key and PIN are presented.

Technical Updates
Technical Field Bulletins (TFBs) are brief documents created by FireKing Security
Group to assist technical sales and service personnel. TFBs are issued to inform
you of product or procedural changes. In some cases TFBs are strictly for informational
purposes, but in some cases specific service information is included. To stay
on top of the latest updates check here monthly.
